D.I.Y Flower Hair Crown

D.I.Y Flower Hair Crown

I made this flower crown head band with items I found at home.I have always loved these styles of headband but as I have quite a small head they never usually fit. So I decided to look up how to make them and when I found it was quite simple, I was over the moon. If you would like to make one of these headbands I am going to show you how with a step by step guide -

First of all you need these items -
  • Craft wire
  • Artificial flowers
  • Glue gun
-To start with you need to take the flowers of the stems and put them to one side as these will be used later.

-Take the craft wire and measure it against your head, make sure you make it loose, also leave a bit to overlap so you can fasten it.

-The craft wire by it'self is too flimsy and doesn't look too nice so you have to put some green tube around it, I used the tube from the stems of the fake flowers but it can be any type which can easily be purchased at a craft shop. You need to cover the whole wire with this leaving a little bit of wire at each end.

-Get your flowers and make sure there is only the tiniest bit of stem.

-Get a piece of wire around 3-4cm long and fold it in half, then loop this around the bit of stem and twist it so it is tight, then get your glue gun and put a blob of glue on it to ensure it is secure. do this to all of your flowers, i used 6 but it can vary.

-Choose where you want to put the flowers and use the two ends of wire to wrap around the band to secure it, place the flowers where you want them to be and after wrapping the wire place discrete bits of glue to secure them.

-Wear your new flower crown and feel great.

It would be great if you try this, if you do please send me a picture of how it goes as it would be great to see other designs.

    Astor Lip Tint Review

I purchased an Astor lip tint a while ago, and it has become my favourite lip product! I even went out and bought another only a week after getting the first one.

I bought this one first, it's in shade 154 Nude Plum, i expected it to be more pink than it comes out. When it's applied it is actually quite a deep purple colour which at first i was unsure about but I love it.
I then went on to purchase this one, it's in shade 250 coral nude, again this colour was a deeper red then i thought it would be but again i have fallen in love with it.

The actual product it's self is like a felt pen, you just colour in your lips. It then, on the other end, has a balm which is to add shine but also is to keep your lips dry. The product is light and long lasting as I have found that if you let it dry fully before putting the balm on it lasts all day, meaning no lipstick stains on glasses or the worry of smudging or re applying. Also if the first coat isn't right for you, let it dry and add more layers until you get the desired colour.
I would definitely recommend this product, but when purchasing make sure you have tested the colour on your hand as it isn't always like the colour of the casing.
I have tried many other lip tints but have found they don't last all day and are usually not very bright but these are definitely long lasting and bright.

    Cat eye make up

I decided I would try and do a cat eye look, this was my result.

To do this look, I used a tutorial from youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgzlcKNdQbk
In the video she did a very bold look but I decided to do a more natural every day look.
    What you need-
    Tape
    eye primer
eye shadow palette ( I used MUA undress me too palette )
eye liner ( preferably liquid )
    Mascara
angled brush ( for definition )

As the video is very detailed I would recommend you watch that but I will summarise what you need to do -

    1. prime your eye lids
    2. get tape and remove some stickiness by placing it on your hand
    3. then apply the tape at the edge of your eye where the flick will go
    4. apply dark black eye shadow at the corner of your eye and smudge it out either way to make it more smoky
    5. keep applying and smudging until you get it to how you want it
    6. use a cream coloured shadow to blend out even more
    7. apply a bronze or gold colur over the top to make it more natural
    8. remove tape
    9. apply liquid eye line to main eye lid and lightly to the flick as this ensures it looks natural
    10. apply mascara

    Clean&Clear Morning energy review

I love this product and thought why not do a review of it.

Clean&Clear Morning Energy is a skin brightening daily facial moisturizer which has lemon and papaya in it to make you skin not only soft but helps it look visibly brighter. When I first saw this I didn't think it would work but when I bought it and tried it I was amazed at how well it works. It not only works well but also smells divine. I have repurchased this product many times and recommend it to everyone. It's a good price and is a product I couldn't live without.

    Books?

Lately I haven't had chance to read due to school work and family but I am about to start a new book, and that's warm bodies by Issac Marion. A month or so ago I saw the film in cinemas and loved. It is about zombies, and how one zombie starts turning into a human and falls in love with the girl, called Julie. The film was amazing and I had been meaning to buy the book for a while but since I was reading a book at the time decided to wait and that payed of. My mum bought me a magazine and this was free in it, I was quite impressed . I usually read the books before watching the film as the books are usually more detailed but oh well. I also usually get books on my kindle now as it means less books having to be stored i my room, I would recommend getting a kindle as they are very useful or at least getting the kindle app. I will let you know how the book is when I have finished it.

    Lush Haul

I went shopping on Saturday and stopped of at lush, I ended up purchasing a lot but not all was for myself. Before going I asked my family if they wanted me to get anything and both my mum and dad wanted somethings.

As my dad has rheumatoid arthritis it helps ease the pain by having baths and relaxing from time to time so I bought him two bath bombs-

Candy Fluff Egg £2.95                                                        Big Blue £3.20 I have used
this one a lot as well and love
this it releases little bits of sea
weed and is lovely. So I also got one
     for my self.

My um has really dry hands, so a couple of weeks ago purchased a Tiny Hands which worked a delight, but she still needed a little extra to get more moisture to her hands so I got some hand putty, This is just like a sop but is very moisturizing  it is good but doesn't seem to last long and costs quite a bit, for my small block I got it was £6.19 and that as after the lady cut it down several times, it's ok for a one of gift but I will definitely not purchase this on a regular basis unlike tiny hands which lasts a long time and is a reasonable price at £4.15. While in lush I purchased a tin to store my mums Tiny Hands as it is recommended it was £2.95 and definitely worth it.

And finally for my self I got, as usual, a Dragons Egg, which I get every time as it is one of my favourites, a Big Blue and a Honey Bee. I used the Honey Bee and was not very impressed it turned the water a washy yellow and the smell was a bit over powering  it may be of some peoples taste but I won't be purchasing it again.

I also got some stuff from Superdrug and H&M which I may blog about so keep an eye out.

    The 'Look' tag

Me and Jodie were trying to think of ideas for blog posts and thought of this idea, we were going to choose a theme and do our makeup to match that theme and we decided we would both upload our finished look and how we did it including the products used, we are uploading this at roughly the same time so we will also be surprised to see the others style.
We chose the theme mysterious -

    Here's my look-

( I have smoky eyes but it doesn't show too well in the picture)
To start my look, I used Gosh foundation primer classic and applied to the face I love this product and use it almost everyday then I chose to use Avon's cream to powder foundation in ivory, I chose this as it gives an even cover and quite a light colour which was what I was going for. I then used the collection 2000 concealer for under my eyes and across my nose.
I then used the collection 2000 pressed powder again in ivory and defined using MUA's bronzed perfection bronzer I used a brush and applied to the cheek bones.
To finish the skin i got Markwins blush in rose an applied i to the apples of my cheeks and added a bit of highlighter.
To get the eyes I started with the MUA Undress Me Too Palete. For the base I used Lavish and applied it to the whole eye lid. I then applied wink across the bottom of the eyelid toward the lash line and towards the outer edge. To create the smoky eye I used a mix of corrupt and obsessed and blended it on the outer part of the eye. to add to the 'Mysterious'look i added a bit of Rimmel specialeyes eye shadow in Planet sparkle just over the eye.
I then completed the eyes with Rimmel scandaleyes kohl. I applied to the lash line in a cat wisker style and smudged it out slightly.I also applied this to the water line. I finished with curling my eye lashes and used the MUA every lash mascara in black.
I thought the look didn't look too mysterious and so I decided it needed lipstick, I used NYC hotspot pink.and applied so...kiss me lip balm in shimmer plum.

The best I could get of the eyes sorry the lighting just wouldn't let it show on pictures

I hope you have enjoyed this look and maybe even tried recreating it, i'm looking forward to seeing Jodie's interpretation of this theme as i'm sure it's going to be much better than this haha

    MUA Undress me too palette

    Eye Shadow Pallete

I was in Superdrug last weekend and got to the till and got offered the MUA Eyeshadow Undress Me Too Pallete, I usually don't buy things offered at the till but I fell in love with this, the colours were just gorgeous and for £3 was a must have! All the colours are very pigmented and brown/ bronze colours. You can create nice smoky eyes and all kinds of other effects. All the colours are pretty much everyday colours and I have used this pallete a lot. I would definitely recommend this!

As I have mentioned before \I went to a small fashion show and I actually got a few things, comment saying whether you would like to see any items I got :)

Also leave a response of your favourite eye product :)

    Organisation

    Organisation

I'm a person who likes to be organised and has to know what's going on or I worry, and with exams lately it has been vital to have a list of what to do. These are the products I have used to keep me organised -

They come as a set and can be bought from and stationary place quite cheap. I got a 2013 diary so I can put important dates and due dates in it. It has really helped me with coursework and homework. With the diary I got a weekly planner with pages that can be ripped of and thrown away as the weeks go by but I find it very helpful as I can plan me week in more depth. I tend to use the diary for long term events or birthdays and the weekly planner for revision and homework.
I would recommend this to any one who stresses easily whether it be over exams or work, they keep you organised and you can look back in the diary and see what you have achieved.

    A quote to consider

    A quote to consider

I have seen so many quotes but only a few I live by, and I thought today I would share with you a quote from my favourite female comedian Miranda Hart. This quote puts a smile on my face every time I see it.

''It is far, far better never to have been beautiful''

This may seem like a depressing quote but if you think in to it, it has a lot of meaning. I found this quote when reading 'Is It Just Me?' by Miranda Hart a while back and later on she explains what she means by this. This quote is saying you don't have to be stereo typically 'beautiful', such as having long thick glossy hair and the perfect figure. Miranda says how by not being 'beautiful' it means you have to find other ways to get by in life such as academically and by personality. By this she means the ones who have their 'beauty' to fall back upon are the ones that don't think they necessarily need anything else such as education compassion etc they get more opportunities in life whereas for people who are not stereo typically 'beautiful' they have to find  other ways in life and have to appreciate these. I'm not saying that every 'beautiful' person doesn't appreciate their what they have and I know not everyone will agree with this quote but to me I find this true, i'm not stereo typically 'beautiful' but I try hard at school, I ensure I am always working hard, being nice and just in general look positively at everything. As you may have noticed I have put beauty etc in quotation marks ( '  ' ) this is because I don't believe that there is a definition of beauty, but if someone said define beauty I would say beauty is everything and everyone. There are the features and ideas that are thought to be prefect but as many people say nobody's perfect.

So next time you see someone and think I wish I looked like them look at your life and appreciate what YOU have achieved, don't think about what others have achieved it's about you and how you are spending your life.

I hope you have enjoyed this little quote / life tip. I would love it if you replied with some one your favourite quotes as I enjoy reading them. Also let me know if you think I should share another quote that helps me :)

    Eyeliner

    Eyeliner

I don't wear a lot of makeup every day but I always wear eyeliner! I thought I would share with you my favourite eyeliners as I am very specific on the ones I use.

    The first product is -

Collection 2000 eXtreme Felt Tip Liner, I ,love this it is easy to apply and lasts quite a long time. If you do wings at the side of your eyes then this is ideal as it's precise and if I can remember rightly it was a couple of pounds from Superdrug.

The next product is the eyeliner from Avon, I got this quite a long time ago and can't remember what it's called or how much it was but it was around £3-4. It is a very precise eyeliner but sometimes I find it is quite annoying because it takes a while to get the line thick because it apply's so little. I wouldn't say that I recommend this but It is a good product if you need a lot of precision.

Lastly it's the MUA EXTREME Eyeliner Pen, I LOVE this product! It is a felt pen and is so easy to use it applys well and in general is an amazing product. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new eyeliner. I bought this for £2.99 from Superdrug but I haven't seen it in a while so I searched it online and I think I have found the same product so I will repurchase if possible.

    Nails, a tiresome chaw ?

I love having nicely painted nails, so I try and do them as often as possibly but as much as I like having nice nails, I hate painting them, literally loath doing it! It is so time consuming and irritating. But over the last few days I have had little to do, as on Sunday Monday and Tuesday I was ill, I thought I would do my nails and was pleased when I finished them. I enjoyed having nice nails that much that I did a new design. But I still loath this time consuming chaw and love little tips and tricks for making it easier, so here are a few I know-
    1. Don't use old nail varnishes as they tend to be more gloupy and will dry tacky and smudge much easier, use fresher bottles and only apply little amounts.
    2. When a colour isn't dark enough on first coat, apply another but only when the fist has dried! Don't pile it on.
    3. Everyone makes little mistakes, but don't let them ruin your nails, use a cotton bud with nail varnish remover on to remover polish from skin or small mistakes.
    4. If you are doing a tricky pattern and are finding it hard, do it on just the thumb nails and paint the rest in a colour that's in the design it still looks good but doesn't take as much effort! I tend to only do the designs on the thumb nails as I really can never be bothered and it is always harder on smaller nails.
    5. If you are in a rush but your nails are just refusing to fully dry then when they have dried enough to touch but still not dry enough to go out with run freezing cold water over your hand and it makes it dry.

    6. When you have a bottle of nail varnish and it may wont open go and run it under a warm tap, I never thought it would work but after reading it on the Internet I tried it and it opened almost straight away. So no more wasted nail varnish.

These are just a few little tips I have found from doing my nails, but I would love to know some of yours.

    Lynx ?

    Lynx ?

Even though lynx is seen as more of a male scent a lot of females use it including myself. I usually use it for school when I have PE as it is a strong lasting scent, I find that males deodorants / body sprays smell fro longer so I they are ideal for school and they can just be popped into a PE bag.

So I thought i would do a pyramid of Lynx deodorants the bottom being my least favourite and the top being my favourite. The names of them will be below -

6- Attract For Her - I still like this smell but it just isn't as good as the males.
5- Excite - I find that too many people have got this lynx and I smell it around a lot so prefer some of the other less know ones.
4- Recover - This smell lasts for a while and is lovely.
3- MusicStar - This smell reminds me of Christmas for some reason but it smells so nice.
2- Africa - This smell is really different to others and is a nice change.
1- My favourite has to be the new Apollo - It's smell lasts for so long it is a strong but not over powering smell and is just amazing.

All Lynx body spray can be purchased from most shops for £2.95 (150ml) or The XL version for £3.85 (200ml), there are also a variety of products from Lynx such as their hair products and shower gels.

    Bags!

    Bags!

I have recently purchased two new bags and they were both fairly cheap, The first bag was from peacocks and was £12. It has two front zips that can be used for phones keys etc, a zip inside and a phone holder inside. It's a leather looking beige bag and has an adjustable long strap. I would definitely recommend this bag as it is very practical and secure.
I also got a bag from primark but i'm not actually sure how much it was but i think it was under £10. It is a satchel sort of bag and I love it again it has a long strap and inside pockets. It is a black leather look and even has a nice pattern inside. It also has two pockets on the sides but I don't really know what use they have but I have decided to use it to store my perfume.

There's plenty of compartments to store anything.

     Favourite ring

I have never been a fan pf wearing rings as I find them uncomfortable and I find myself worrying all the time about getting them stuck, but I have actually found a ring I can wear on a regular basis and not even feel it's there. I got the ring from the co op department store I think and it was quite cheap, I know it's not a jeweler y brand but it is really honestly my favourite ring. I like this ring so much because it is adjustable, it is a cute pinky red colour with little ruby coloured gems. It goes well with a lot of outfits. I would definitely recommend an adjustable ring as they are just so much more comfortable.

    Books To Bookmarks?

I reading blogs when I saw one of my friends latest posts, Beth's blog post was about her challenge to herself to read 4 books in February, this got me thinking about all the books my family have in our house, especially my mum so I searched for this to do with old books. I found this great website that had 50 different thinks to do with old books. One was to make bookmarks, so I grabbed one of my mum's old unwanted books and went on to produce this -

It's a simple but effective idea and is definitely useful and helpful. While gaining a bookmark you are also decluttering and helping the environment, and only takes about 5-10 minutes to make using simple origami. I will leave the link below.

    Gosh - Foundation Primer Classic

This facial primer is my most favourite ever, I apply it when I wake up and then apply the rest of my makeup, it leaves my skin unbelievably soft and I love it, it was fairly pricey at £12.99 per 30ml bottle but for the quality and velvetness it gives to the skin it is most definitely worth it. I purchased it from Superdrug after sampling it many times in the store and loving the feeling it left on my skin, my friends also said the product seemed as if it would be good. But for the price I was weary so I looked at some reviews and the Superdrug review and on the website the product has a 4.9 star rating out of 5 stars.

So if you are looking for a new primer or even just softer skin then I would definitely recommend this. Also I would like to tag anyone reading this to either write a blog post or comment about your favourite beauty item so far in 2013 as this is definitely one of mine! :D

    Nail polish

I used this new nail polish by OPI today and I loved it it is a cherry colour and was fairly cheap, unlike other brands and high street nail polishes this applied well dried quickly and doesn't even need a too coat and it's strong and shines well, I will definitely be purchasing another colour of this product as it is worth the money

    Minnie Haul -

I went shopping and just thought I would share some of the products I got.

    Lush -

    Conditioner bar

I bought this conditioner bar from lush as i have seen them online a lot before and thought it may be good. I also tried it as it is a new design and it was on special offer at only £2.95, I thought it was a bargain. I have tried it and so far I love it, I would definitely recommend this to other people

     Dorothy

One of my friends recommended this bubble bar so i decided to try it, especially after I smelt the refreshing smell of it, when I tried it the whole bathroom smelt divine and I came out with soft skin. I will definitely purchase another Dorothy bath bar and especially as it was only £2.99.

    Big Blue

Big Blue is a bath bomb that is filled with seaweed and has a divine smell to it, I think this may be my favorite bath bomb from lush besides the Dragons' egg, so when I saw this i quickly snapped it up. It was £3.20.

      Superdrug

    MUA Lipstick

Whilst I was looking at the MUA products in Superdrug i noticed the lipsticks and remembered I needed a new lipstick, I tried many colours and chose this lipstick in shade 3. It applies smoothly and is a brilliant colour. I was also shocked at how cheap it was, at only £1 !

This shade is a reddy-pink colour
I was also surprised at how the bottom has more in it, all you need to do is twist the bottom off.

    H&M
    Flirty Seasonal Perfume

I was spraying many perfumes and the smell of this perfume stood out, it's so sweet but not a sickly smell, it is definitely one that should be worn in the colder months such as winter as it has the winter smell to it, it was £2.99 and will be worn a lot by me.
